MCEBuddy is running twice as long since upgrading to Windows 11

Operating System and Type (32bit or 64bit):

Ran the previous version MCEBuddy 2.4 when the problem first occurred. I thought it might be because I was running an older version so I upgraded to 2.56 and the run time is still almost an hour for an hour long episode file. Under Windows 10 the hour long files were processed usually in 20-25 minutes when running 2.4.

The Post Processing command was working in version 2.4 however the PostProcessing command file is no longer being executed in 2.56 due to this error: Starting process as a UISession process with Admin privileges. This requires at least 1 user to be logged into the system (remote desktop or locally) "

Conversion log file please. Most likely it’s your graphics driver not using hardware encoding.

Issue # 2 is resolved. I just forgot to copy the PostCustom Commands from my old Profile file after MCEBuddy upgrade.

Issue # 1 is still a problem. I have previously marked HardwareEncoding=True so I don’t think that is the issue.
In the attached folder the 2021 files are from Windows 10 and the 2022 files are from Windows 11. I noticed that even the conversion log files have doubled in size.

I don’t see any log files in the zip. You can attach the log file directly here. Also setting the flag simply tells the encoder to enable hardware encoding. It’s the graphics driver that’s responsible for the hardware encoding and if it was working earlier and not after the upgrade then likely the new graphics driver is having an issue and it’s falling back to software encoding.

There were 4 log files in the zip:

Two of them were from runs I did under Windows 11.
Law and Order Organized Crime - s02e12 - As Iago Is to Othello.mp4-Organized Crime-2022-02-03T20-27-50.log
mcebuddy (Windows 11).log

Two of them were from runs I did under Windows 10.
NCIS Los Angeles - s13e02 - Fukushu.mp4-NCIS Los Angeles-2021-10-18T16-02-08.log

mcebuddy (Windows 10).log

Law and Order Organized Crime - s02e12 - As Iago Is to Othello.mp4-Organized Crime-2022-02-03T20-27-50.log (3.9 MB)

NCIS Los Angeles - s13e02 - Fukushu.mp4-NCIS Los Angeles-2021-10-18T16-02-08.log (1.13 MB)

I am sending the log file again. Have you had time to examine it? When I checked it; I couldn’t identify why it got so slow. Were you able to see anything?

The logs are looking fine, it’s using hardware encoding

2022-02-03T20:29:35 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.Handbrake → “Encoder”: “qsv_h264”,

It’s running really slow (30fps)

2022-02-03T20:29:45 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.Handbrake → Encoding: task 1 of 1, 0.33 % (29.09 fps, avg 27.55 fps, ETA 00h45m06s)

Everything is identical as far as MCEBuddy goes. That means your graphics driver isn’t optimized for hardware encoding (the speed is controlled by graphics card + driver).

By comparison your Windows 10 driver was running at 10 times the speed

2021-10-18T16:04:04 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.Handbrake → Encoding: task 1 of 1, 4.15 % (277.39 fps, avg 280.58 fps, ETA 00h04m20s)

I don’t use a graphics card. I am using the graphics embedded in the Intel I-7 chip and the Asrock Z390 Taichi motherboard.
Is there a recommended driver for my scenario?

Windows 11 is still new so the intel graphics drivers may not be optimized for it yet. Try out a few and feel free to post back your experiences with the different versions and we can add it to our repository here:

I found this latest driver from Intel “igfx_win_101.1340.exe” which corrected some problems with the previous driver. See Intel website for issues corrected.

With this driver installed, MCE_Buddy2x went from 39+ minutes to 3+ minutes. I have attached the most recent log file.
