Suddenly, for no known reason, my commercial skips fail when the .edl file is missing.

Any ideas?? Thanks in advance

You’ve set your custom Comskip path to

Custom Comskip Path → C:\Program Files\Comskip\comskip.exe

Does that exist?

Thanks so much for resoinding. YES, that path does exist.

It’s not accessible to MCEBuddy which is why it’s failing to run. Check the permissions.

Please clarify what file is not accesable. From what I can see no .edl file is being created. Thanks so much for your help.

I don’t see Comskip running at all in the log excerpt above. That could be for one of 2 reasons (you didn’t attach the entire log file).

  1. The log isn’t set to debug
  2. MCEBuddy can’t access the Comskip.exe file so it didn’t run

Thanks so much for youe help, RBoy

I spent all weekend, off and on, unistalling and then reinstalling MCEBuddy. Finally, have some good news, and bad news.

Good news is that an .edl file finally is gettung produced. Bad news- the finished product does not include any commiucal cuts, same length as the original show. No idea why. As mentioned, the edl file was created. And I changed abosukltely no settings (except to add the comskip.exe path.)

I have attached the .edl file as well as the complete log

Thanks in adaance Chris Bones_BBCAPH_2023_09_05_13_00_15.edl (140 Bytes) Bones_BBCAPH_2023_09_05_13_00_15.wtv-Remove Commercials-2023-09-05T14-02-46.log (1.2 MB)

Just to make sure I am crystal clear: the commercials are being identified (.edl file)- but they are not being cut from proceesed TV show

That’s because you’ve configured your conversion task to skip cutting commercials and instead preserve the EDL file along with the converted file.

Task Commercial Skip Cut → True

INFORMATION> 2023-09-05T14:14:27 MCEBuddy.Engine.ConversionJob → Skipping commercial cutting, preserving EDL file

I understand. How do I fix this? I hhave made zero changes to settings- all default except path to Comskip.exe. I have not touched Comskip.ini. Please advise what line in Comskip.Ini needs to be changed.

Uncheck Only detect Ads in your conversion task

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I knew it was something simple. I am currently traveling and won’t be home until September 20. But I am 99% sure that I checked that box in error. I will let you know then.
