Audio track missing/stripped from conversion

It should be fine, just use a FTP client like FileZilla or even windows own ftp client if you’re comfortable with that

I’ve tried several different systems with filezilla or explorer and it connects and disconnects. I have turned off firewall and antivirus and still the same issue. If I gave you a dropbox link would that work?

We could, it would be faster to upload through FTP through. Did you try using passive mode in the FileZilla settings? Active mode could be troublesome for some users

Passive mode did not work. The video has about 20 more minutes until upload completes. Dropbox links Dropbox - File Deleted

Thank you again for your help!!

Yes I just tested and found that the FTP server had stopped for some reason, just restarted it. Try it now, it’ll be much faster than dropbox

It isnt’ downloading from Dropbox, it errors out at about 700MB and fails. Did you try uploading to the MCEBuddy FTP site?

BTW this file seems to have converted just fine with audio according to your logs:

See if you can find a recording that doesn’t contain an audio file after conversion.

I look at all of them. I don’t always even play it I often just look that the file details and find there is no audio. I don’t have the file anymore but I can run it again.

Here is an example after it finishes uploading to Dropbox in the next 10-15 minutes.

Let’s try this again:
post conversion:

ok let me try with different extension

Your original file (the MKV) has no audio

The top one not the last one. They both have an mkv extension now. I just check and it does have audio so I am not going crazy.

Could you upload the original MKV with a conversion issue to the MCEBuddy FTP server. Too many links on this thread. Create a folder in your name and put the file + log if possible into it so we can replicate with the same settings.

uploading a full recording from last night also

I checked out your video, there’s definitely some issue with the video. I can’t even get it to play with WMP or some other players. While we’re looking into how MCEBuddy can repair the broken video/audio stream, you should look into why your recording device is creating a non compliant video with errors in it. That would be your best fix, even if MCEBuddy can repair these errors, there may be some uncoverable losses.

Thank you for your help! I never tried to play it back on anything than Emby or HPC-HC and they both played back fine. I tried on VLC and media center and saw issues. Since I have had this issue using HDHomeRun - EXTEND and the dual I can rule out hardware, and the issue is with all stations that only leaves Emby. I open a support ticket with them. Thanks again!

FYI I had the DVR in Emby set to “automatically convert recordings to a streaming-friendly format”. Removing that setting fixed the issue and MCEbuddy work great now!!

Emby was creating a file with invalid audio properties, here are some the issues various different tools discovered (from ffmpeg to handbrake to avidemux)

2018-02-09T18:02:14 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.FFmpeg → [mpegts @ 0000000000704740] Could not find codec parameters for stream 0 (Audio: aac (LC) ([15][0][0][0] / 0x000F), 0 channels, fltp, 326 kb/s): unspecified sample rate

2018-02-09T17:54:28 MCEBuddy.AppWrapper.AVIDemux → [adm_lavLogCallback] 22:54:28-975 [lavc] Sample rate index in program config element does not match the sample rate index configured by the container.

Looks like the streaming friendly format was creating a non compliant video.
