Custom Cuts COMException

Hello MCEBuddy Community,

First off, much appreciation for this great software. It has worked perfectly without any friction.

Until now.

I am experiencing a COMException when attempting to open a media file in MCEBuddy2x Custom Cuts:

FWIW this occurs when dragging the file into the GUI or by utilizing the Open Video button. I also tried Run As Administrator to no avail. This is my first time using it so any suggestions/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

CustomCuts uses windows direct show codecs/filters to render the file. It looks like your windows installation doesn’t seem to have the necessary codecs/filters to render the video.

Try installing LAVfilters

Weird Custom Cut Error

That error is from the windows media player. MCEBuddy uses the native media player plugin to render the onscreen video/images. The media player in turn uses the build in media foundation and directshow codecs. Windows doesn’t natively support MKV format and also doesn’t support HEVC (h265) so the media player isn’t able to render it.
