The networks are starting to roll out ADP (https://adp.acb.org/) with programs. This is an audio track which contains descriptive speech for scenes that blind or partially blind people will find helpful when viewing these shows.
The problem, there appears to be no labeling. From La Brea Episode 8, the English and Spanish audio streams can be found. With ADP added to Episode 9, I see no labels. At playback, the first stream is the ADP enhanced.
Has anyone else found a way to label these streams or even look at the TS files to see if in fact, the labels were left out?
No, the only solution I’m seeing is verify there is a label attached and if there is, let the routine grab the ENG track and drop the other. But, where there is no label, test that one of the streams is 5.1, label that as ENG, and drop the other.
ADP confirms that the local broadcaster is attaching the audio description track. My guess is they’re failing to label after the addition. But since I can’t count on them applying proper labels, I need to do that myself.
Others out there who record OTA may encounter this. The ADP website lists programs that have ADP available. It would be nice to confirm that other regions have this coming up. Allowing MCEBuddy to pick the proper track, will result in the 1st track that’s ADP being picked and the 5.1 track being dropped.
This should be a “heads up” and get some minds on how to prevent this from happening.
