It might be about time to update ffmpeg and handbrake with the release of the 40 series gpus. Also, just to keep with the times, it might be nice to enable hardware encoding for av1. Thanks.

We’ve submitted a few patches to ffmpeg. Will restarting the testing cycle on the next release of ffmpeg

Sounds good. In the mean time while you are waiting on your patches to be approved, Why don’t you apply them yourself and cross compile, making your own fork of ffmpeg.

I will add that I’ve also just re-upped my license. Dropped in fresh nightly builds for MKV merge and extract, Handbrake CLI, FFMPEG (the 2.8.2 20230930 build is said by the authors to be stable and includes new support for NVdecoder and NV AV1 encoding), and avidemux. My preliminary testing does…

Just noticed this ( git.ffmpeg.org Git - ffmpeg.git/blobdiff - Changelog ) 6.1 should be out very soon, just waiting for them to update the home page.

also, handbrakecli was just bumped up to 1.7.0 but we are still waiting on a binary.

The nightly Handbrake builds are now the 1.7.0 builds. Notably we now have NVENC AV1 (nVidia hardware encoding to AV1). However, this is only available on the new Ada (RTX40 series) cards. It is unknown if nVidia will backport the encoder to the RTX10 series (Pascal), RTX20 series (Turing), or RTX…

I don’t use handbrake much, mostly ffmpeg but don’t you mean svt or av1.
