Renaming TV Show - Gutfeld!

I record to my NAS Gutfeld! each week night.
I get the following files:

  • Gutfeld! 2024-12-31-2159.json
  • Gutfeld! 2024-12-31-2159.mpg

MCEbuddy2x then process them and I get this:
Gutfeld! - 2159.mkv

I don’t think it can do the episodes but couldn’t it at least keep the date? So I can distinguish each nights episodes?

Can you attach the json file here or upload the mpg and json files to the server so we an see what metadata is available to process? What’s the recording source?

Thanks, got the file and replicated the issue. There appears to be an issue with Comskip processing the video in TS format (which is an intermediary format that MCEBuddy uses to process the files).

For now, until we can resolve the issue between Comskip and the TS format, you have 2 options you can try and see which one works best for you:

  1. Use Showanalyzer to detect commercials instead of Comskip in the Conversion task page

  2. Enable the option Skip remuxing files in the Conversion task → Expert settings page which will skip the intermediary step and will allow Comskip to work directly on your original MKV file and detect the commercials

Let me know how it goes

One issue I’ve noticed is that your original MKV file has a lot of timing errors which is creating problems while remuxing it which then leads to other issues with Comskip not being able to process it properly.

What’s your recording software of the original MKV?

Using Channel DVR

We investigated this some more, the issue is that original recording has corrupted timestamps which is throwing off comskip when it’s remuxed from the original MKV to TS container. It’s a bug with the ChannelsDVR recorder. For now you can skip remuxing and it should work but ideally report it to ChannelsDVR so they can fix the recording software to create a compliant video without errors.

How do I skip remuxing this show

Channel DVR response:
“Huh there is no “original MKV”? The recordings are made directly from source into MPEGTS Are they able to provide any technical details?”

So I went to the source directory - here is the original as recorded by Channel DVR
