Mijn vrouw is een fanatieke WMC-gebruiker en wil, na ongeveer 15 jaar, haar tv-afleveringen in recorded TV hebben. Het WMC h264-profiel werkte prima, maar ik vroeg me af…
Als ik de codecs voor h265- en AV1-weergave geïnstalleerd heb, kan ik dan transcoderen naar een van beide, het in WTV verpakken en verwachten dat het werkt? Alvast bedankt.

That’s a great question, Jeff! It’s understandable to want to stick with WMC, especially after all these years.

While MCEBuddy can definitely transcode to h265 and AV1, and wrap it in a WTV container, the ultimate compatibility with Windows Media Center (WMC) depends on WMC’s native codec support. WMC was designed in an era where h264 was the prevalent standard, and while you can install third-party codecs, WMC’s ability to utilize them seamlessly for playback within its interface can be hit or miss.

You’ve already posted your question as “Modifing a standard Profile (WTV)”, which is the most relevant current topic on the matter. You might also want to search the forum for “WTV h265” or “WMC h265” as there could be other users who have attempted similar setups and shared their experiences.

My best advice would be to try it with a short recording and see if it works for your specific WMC setup. You can always revert to the h264 profile if needed. Good luck!

Een update en een vraag. Ik converteer naar h264/wtv met het standaardprofiel en ben tevreden over de veel kleinere bestandsgrootte. Gisteren probeerde ik enkele h265/mp4-conversies van dezelfde bestanden om te zien hoeveel kleiner ze zouden zijn. WMC herkende de .mp4-bestanden en plaatste ze in de map voor opgenomen tv. Is dit normaal? Dank je.

Laat me het iets anders verwoorden. De .mp4-bestanden werden herkend als opgenomen tv-afleveringen en niet als video zoals ik verwachtte. De bestanden lagen fysiek in dezelfde map als de h264/wtv-bestanden die ik eerder had geconverteerd.
