While MCEBuddy can definitely transcode to h265 and AV1, and wrap it in a WTV container, the ultimate compatibility with Windows Media Center (WMC) depends on WMC’s native codec support. WMC was designed in an era where h264 was the prevalent standard, and while you can install third-party codecs, WMC’s ability to utilize them seamlessly for playback within its interface can be hit or miss.
You’ve already posted your question as “Modifing a standard Profile (WTV)”, which is the most relevant current topic on the matter. You might also want to search the forum for “WTV h265” or “WMC h265” as there could be other users who have attempted similar setups and shared their experiences.
My best advice would be to try it with a short recording and see if it works for your specific WMC setup. You can always revert to the h264 profile if needed. Good luck!

Ein Update und eine Frage. Ich konvertiere seit einiger Zeit mit dem Standardprofil nach h264/wtv und bin mit der deutlich kleineren Dateigröße zufrieden. Gestern habe ich einige derselben Dateien nach h265/mp4 konvertiert, um zu sehen, wie viel kleiner sie werden. WMC erkannte die .mp4-Dateien und verschob sie in den „Recorded TV“-Ordner. Ist das normal? Danke.
Ich formuliere es etwas um. Die .mp4-Dateien wurden als aufgenommene TV-Folgen erkannt und nicht – wie erwartet – als Videos. Die Dateien lagen physisch im selben Ordner wie die zuvor konvertierten h264/wtv-Dateien.
