# WMC Metadata Lost After Conversion

Hi. I am new to using this software. I am a paid subscriber on the latest beta version, and everything seems to be working except when viewing the file after conversion in WMC, the description is completely missing as are the cast, ability to view other showings, etc. Any way to preserve these? This is kind of a deal breaker otherwise. Even worse, WMC seems to not count converted files towards your show limit of 5 recordings. Please advise.

Attach your conversion log. It should retain all metadata after conversion.

You are converting a WTV file to a MP4 file. The metadata isn’t 1 to 1 compatible. The metadata that is supported by the MP4 containers is retained and rest discarded.
All the metadata is retained if you convert a WTV back to WTV. Each container has it’s own metadata limitations.
This is the information retained by the MP4 container:

Thanks Goose, I’ll try it and report back. Should it also count towards the max episode count then? Also, how do you make it delete the original after the conversion?
