# Not re-recording episodes I have

Using Plex as my DVR and MCE I did some changes to use MCE to scan-remove commercials, but I changed the format to MKV file instead of using MP4. Getting alot of dupes can MCE scan what we already have recorded so it skips over adding more to my FOLDER?

MCEBuddy won’t convert already converted files unless _remonitoring_ is enabled in the monitor task expert settings. Screenshots or log files would help

Nope _remonitoring_ is not enabled and I have the originals deleted

If you have dupes on your original recordings then it’s much harder since mcebuddy goes by source filenames and paths, and assuming this would be a different name but the content is a duplicate of a previous recording (e…g. rerun of shows or movies).

There is one option you can try in _Conversion task → Expert settings_ try checking the option to `Skip reconversion`

What this does is for situations where there are duplicate original recordings, if _based on the metadata_ MCEBuddy determines that the converted file will have the same name as a file that’s already in the destination folder (so the previous converted recording needs to exist in the destination folder), it will skip converting the file and mark it as successfully processed. See the pop up help for more details.

Thank you I will give it a shot! Getting ready to move everything from i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz to New built machine i7-12700K funny how much more space I have in the Tower since I am using 2 SAMSUNG 990 EVO Plus SSD M.2 sticks Dam boot in 10 seconds!
