# Error 1001. The specified service already exists

I removed an older version to install the latest version and kept getting messages that stated :" This advertised application will not be installed because it might be unsafe. Contact your administrator to change the installation user interface option of the package to basic."
So I googled that and created a Temp folder on my C drive and copied the install files there and ran, msiexec.exe /i MCEBuddy.Setup64.msi /qb and while it starts to install, I then get the Error 1001. The specified service already exists.
The service is stopped an nothing I do can get this to install. I’ve used more than a dozen previous versions over the last 4-5 years.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks much. This is exactly what I was looking for and it worked. I still had to install using the info here which didn’t work until I did as your post suggest.

Are you using the MSI or the setup file? If you’re using the Setup file it should work without an issue.
